If you've been watching the news, you've seen how bed bugs have infested Toronto. Well now they've most recently been seen (at least to public knowledge) at the Niketown on 57th Street and Fifth Avenue. According to an article in New York Mag the store's walls were covered in brown paper with a sign that said the store was "temporarily closed until further notice." Nike announced the problem in a statement.
"Our primary concern is the well-being of our consumers and sales associates," Nike said. "We are taking all proper steps to eradicate the problem, and we expect the store to reopen shortly."
It hasn't been said when the 95,000-square-foot store will reopen. Experts have told NYMag that with major infestations in spaces this large, seven to ten days of treatment is recommended to make sure the store is completely rid of the bugs. Obviously the store is not letting customers know thru signs or thru their phone answering message that they have a bedbug infestation that would be retail suicide!
