• Carine Roitfeld Leaves French Vogue!

Carine Roitfeld long-time Editor-in-chief at French Vogue announced yesterday that she would be leaving the magazine.  As the Editor for the past 10 years she has been quoted in the past as saying "I don't know what I will do next, but  I can not do the same for the next 10 years.  I love to change."  The 56-year-old writer and stylist and former French model joined Vogue in 2001 and got into modelling after being discovered on the streets of Paris by a photographer's assistant at the age of 18. She later moved into fashion journalism, including writing for Elle, before being offered a job at French Vogue by publisher Condé Nast International's chairman, Jonathan Newhouse  "It is impossible to overstate Carine's powerful contribution to Vogue and to the fields of fashion and magazine publishing," Newhouse said today. "Under her direction, Vogue Paris received record levels of circulation and advertising and editorial success. Carine will be deeply missed. I am extremely grateful to her for what she has achieved."  It was rumoured that Roitfeld would take over for Anna Wintour when she retired from Amercian Vogue and Roitfeld has been quoted as saying "The ultimate Vogue to do would be the American Vogue, because it's huge," Roitfeld told the Observer in 2007.  We will miss her and her great style but are looking forward to what she has in store next and also who will take over for her as the next Editor at French Vogue.
