Yesterday I attended NKPR’s Spring/Summer 2015 preview. Great treats including David’s Tea, great atmosphere and great products. Jacqueline Piron has benefited from a unique combination of extensive family travel and a diverse exposure to entrepreneurial success. Upon graduation from the prestigious Wilfred Laurier School of Business in 2008, Jacqueline joined her family's medical device business as a marketing and brand strategist. She has travelled extensively to Europe, Japan and the United States, honing her organizational skills and guided by her successful inventor-turned-entrepreneur father. In addition, her brother is a tough act to follow as a medical researcher and entrepreneur who has received many awards for his breast cancer research and currently is involved in brain cancer intervention. However, she was always eager to carry on the fashion tradition. Her mother/flight attendant/business woman designed one-of-a-kind luxury sweaters made with French angora, pearl buttons from Harrods, silk and mohair yarns from Germany and Italy. Today, Jacqueline is picking up the pieces that her mother left behind; she incorporates similar embellishments to her luxury t-shirt designs. Her spring/summer 2015 collection draws inspiration from the streets of Paris. She uses the finest available materials: Swarovski and Preciosa crystals, French angora, Italian and German mohair, Japanese lace and ribbons. Her brand mission is to add glamour and unexpected elegance to a wardrobe staple. The designs are proudly produced in Canada with an emphasis on superior fit and quality tailoring. Her debut collection has been favourably received by fashion enthusiasts.

!Xam Diamonds (the “!X” is pronounced with a click) was founded in October 2011 by brothers Jeffrey and Terry Brenner. Their focus was clear: to introduce a higher level of transparency and quality to the diamond and jewelry market in Canada. !Xam was the brainchild of diamantaire, Jeffrey, who has over 20 years in the business. His career began by learning to cut rough diamonds in a polishing factory in South Africa. Terry then became involved in diamond trading and purchasing, then began operating a small diamond-mining venture that was eventually sold to a TSX-listed junior mining company.
