Well it's official as reported by NBC New York ingenius designer Karl Lagerfeld will design a capsule collection for retail giant Macy's in September. The first in a line of designers to come this collaboration is part of the department store's new guest designer initiative. Following in the shoes of Target and H&M, Macy's will introduce a series of one-off designer collaborations in a two-month rotation beginning in February. The formal announcement came as a result of a leak that Karl Lagerfeld would be just one of the guest designers to come. Macy's has already delved into collaborating with celebrities and designers by working with everyone from Rachel Roy to Madonna and Lourdes. This latest news proves that the new strategy has been working for Macy's and allowing it to foray into the fashion world and competing with such retailers as H&M and Target for low priced designer fashions.
