Toronto, ON – Canadian womenswear label, elan+castor will make their World MasterCard® Fashion Week runway debut with their Spring/Summer 2015 collection on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 in the studio at 3:00pm. Notable attendees included Kristian Bruun (Orphan Black), Rosey Edeh, Paula Brancati, Clara Pasieka (Maps to the Stars), Naomi Snieckus (Mr D), and Ainsley Kerr.
Now in its fourth season, elan+castor’s deconstructed bohemian aesthetic is strewn throughout their Spring/Summer 2015 collection with their signature hand woven knits, silk screening prints, and leather details.
“I called this collection the Regeneration Collection,” says designer Leah Antoinette, “After our heavy winters, I always look to spring and summer to give me a feeling of renewal and freshness. I discovered Nick Veasey’s x-ray photographs of tulips and lilies and wanted to emulate the soft diaphanous of the petals in soft layers of chiffon and knits. I wanted to convey the idea that clothing can feel refreshing and light, not binding and constrictive. As in life, we may sometimes need a new beginning; I like to look at the clothing as growing from new points, with the freedom to move with the elements.”
The Canadian-designed and created collection consists of knitted separates, maxi dresses, and lightweight layers in silk chiffon, Egyptian cotton and Merino wool yarns from Italy, a touch of buttery leather and silk/cotton gauze. This is a collection designed for the whimsical part of every woman using rich fuchsias, turquoise, sage, blues, and deep purples diffused with creams to create a lush palette. Layers of printed florals and texture were added to create organic depths without the weight.
“It has always been a goal to have my clothes walk the runway at World MasterCard® Fashion Week; there are so many great designers here and it’s such a compliment to be among them.” says the designer of her first time showing at The Tents.
The collection is available through custom order at elancastor.com with prices ranging from $200 - $800 CDN and is sold at Farasha Boutique in Park City, Utah and online at elancastor.com.
