The Style Watcher: Toronto Fashion Week / Narces SS’2015

Another season of Toronto Fashion Week has come and gone but there were some great show’s to be seen. Here are some of the one’s I attended starting out with Narces. Great femine styles in soft hues, great fabrics and textures. A line for the girly girl for sure.

On Tuesday, October 21^st at 4:00pm, internationally renowned Toronto-based evening wear line, NARCES showcased their Spring/Summer 2015 collection on the runway at World MasterCard® Fashion Week. Notable attendees included Natalie Brown (The Strain), Kristian Bruun (Orphan Black), Clara Paseika (Maps to the Stars), Rosey Edeh, Carmen Corcoz, Veronica Chail, Naomi Snieckus (Mr. D), Cory Lee (Degrassi), and Ainsley Kerr.

This season’s collection is inspired by the extravagantly decorated birdcages of the Victorian age; a time when the birdcages had become their most magnificent and detailed. Birdcages as décor had been a trendy item through the 17th and 18th centuries. It wasn't until the opulence of the Victorian era that the trend reached its peak. “My family and I were in the south of Spain last year and I became captivated by a Victorian birdcage collection on display in a castle,” says designer Nikki Wirthensohn, “This led me to more research around the concept of bird cages in general which coincided with my fascination of mesh materials; both woven and knitted.”

Spring/Summer 2015 NARCES dresses are elaborately structured, embellished to glow, and set on mesh to contain and showcase the female form while floral textures, decorative lace, and airy woven materials decorate and beautify the garment. The collection has been infused with airy pastels and off-white shades. Luxury fabrics and textures, silk organza, crepe, mesh, tulle, and stretch knits are used in all dresses. Their signature silk organza circle cocktail dresses returns with a fresh reinterpretation with a mix of lace and mesh in multi-colour pastels.
